Got a copyright claim on your music?
It happens, and it is usually fixable. Here is what it means and what to do.
What a claim is
Platforms like YouTube compare your video's audio to songs that people registered with them. If they find a match, they can place a claim. The claim may mute your video, block it or send its earnings to the person who registered the song. A claim is not the same as a lawsuit.
What to do
- Read the claim. It says which song was matched and what the platform did.
- Find your license. If you licensed the song on AllDefiant Sync, open My licenses. Your certificate and your public check link are there.
- Dispute the claim on the platform and give them your license number or your public check link. The link shows the song, the artist, the use and the date.
- If the platform asks for more, we can help. Contact support and send your license number.
How an AllDefiant license helps
Your license is proof that you had the right to use the song. The public check page at alldefiant.com/v/ followed by your license number says the license is valid, and names the song, the artist, the use and the date. No one can promise a claim will never happen. A license gives you something to answer one with.
